Well, the best thing that I can say about the show is that it might be a nice place to take your kids to kill a couple of hours, but, otherwise, it as weak. OK, there were some exotic cars there like Aston Martin, Ferrari, Maserati and my favorite (because it is more affordable), the Infinite G37 Hardtop convertible. Also, if you’ve ever wondered what a $59,000 Ford F-150 pick up looks like, you could see one up close and actually get in it.

Really, a Ford F-150 for $58,000? WOW! Volvo had a couple of cool cars to show off too and a good line of Lexus was also on the floor. But really, the excitement level was low. But, this is a car expo in Raleigh not Detroit. So my expectations were not high.
A New Type of Crime in North Raleigh February 9, 2010
Here is a portion of an email that was sent to a friend and rather than condense it, I just pasted it here. If this is true, it is very alarming.
I just spoke to a friend who lives in N. Raleigh and her home was burglarized last weekend around 9pm on a Sunday. They came home to the burglary in process. The police came and did their investigation and searched the burglar’s vehicle and found night vision goggles with heat sensors, a police monitoring radio unit, passports, wallets, drivers licenses, and mail from neighbor’s mailboxes from higher end neighborhoods off 540. They didn’t attempt to take anything i.e. jewelry or electronics… only bank statements, checks, credit cards and they had hooked up some device to their computer at home to pull off financial and password info from their computer. The police said this has been happening recently and they just had a similar break in off Creedmoor Rd. They feel it’s a man and a woman team. They got away in the woods, but left their rental car with stolen plates behind. When the neighbors were questioned, they said they noticed that earlier that day, there were 4-5 cars in their driveway and at 1am the night before, they noticed 2 cars sitting in front of their home with only parking lights on.
I wanted to share this because it seems mighty bold that these folks are doing this on weekend evenings when most would be home and to make sure we all look out for each other if we see something not quite right. There’s been nothing on the news about this!

Lincoln Theater and Mother’s Finest January 17th, 2010 January 14, 2010
What a blast from the past. I saw them at Minges Coliseum in 1979. They were incredible then. They are still together. OK there have been some personnel changes but Joyce Kennedy is still the CORE, belting out those incredible signature vocals.

Foster Falls, Virginia camping November 28, 2009
Pete, Pete and I went camping in the Virginia mountains last weekend, and although it was below freezing at night, we had a terrific time. The campground was on the New River and the campsites were very nice. Temperatures during the day were perfect for cycling. We biked about 20 miles on Saturday along the Creeper Trail which was an old railroad turned into a biking/hiking trail. It was relatively flat and is doable for most everyone.
